This week I’ve had some downtime to relax a bit and let my mind wander. The best place to do this on my property is the hammock, which lives under the crabapple tree in my backyard, overseeing a collection of native plants that almost always need trimmed.
The relaxing went well, but the “mind wandering” part went a different direction than I had planned. That’s the thing though- you can’t plan a mind’s wandering; you just have to let it go wherever it wants.
Mine went from wandering to wondering. Not about the great mystery of human existence, but to other, lesser yet still intriguing mysteries like these:
-Is everybody who drives a cyber truck an asshole?
-Why do people litter?
-How did the American electorate become so feebleminded?
-Why do people go out to a concert or movie and then talk through the whole thing? (Editors note: shut the hell up or stay home!)
-How can it be that placing a wooden spoon across the top of a boiling pot of water, keeps the pot from boiling over? (I’m sure there’s a scientific explanation to this one, but it just seems like magic to me.)
Sad to say, I wandered, wondered, fell asleep, woke up, climbed out of the hammock, and went about the rest of my day with no new insights or answers.

I enjoyed this ….thank you…

Ha ha. I have wondered many of these things myself, Todd. Except the wooden spoon one. That was news to me! I’m going to have to give it a try.

It’s wild! I read that it has something to do with the spoon popping little bubbles?! I don’t know- I’m still putting money on it being magic 😁

Movie deep thought – My crackpot theory is that people have gotten so used to watching movies at home, where they usually have a side conversation going on, that they just don’t think to keep their yappin’ traps shut when they’re watching one out in public. As for the electorate – I’m just as aghast as you are.

I see more and more people at concerts filming with their mobile phones. I don’t understand it. If you want to see a live concert it should be live not with the medium of a phone! My humble opinion. I like your points Todd!

Thanks Cristiana! I agree – I was wondering if those people ever sit around and watch all the concert videos they filmed. I’m guessing they probably don’t….

Your mention of a Cybertruck reminds me of a drinking game I invented for folks who are tying to quit drinking:Take a shot every time you see a Cybertruck actually being used as a pickup.

I love your line, “That’s the thing though- you can’t plan a mind’s wandering; you just have to let it go wherever it wants.” Isn’t that true?! I think you might be right about the Cyber trucks…

Haha thanks 😁 I hate to generalize about people but something about the look of those trucks makes me wonder if the owner’s self esteem is too high🙃
