August actually had a nice amount of downtime in it despite a few busy weekends. Unexpected highlight: Seeing a variety of beautiful old buildings. Unexpected lowlight: No beach trip this month! 😱

August 1- Checked out a Drum Core competition- these people are amazing musicians and amazing athletes! Allentown, PA
August 2– Kayaking at Speedwell Forge. Lititz, PA
Harold found a turtle-less turtle shell.
Happy Birthday Bob! It was supposed to be a pool party, but rain changed the meaning of the word “pool”😅. New Providence, PA
August 3- Kalahari is a very impressive place! Pocono Manor, PA
After the gig (Josh Squared Band), we had an extra young drummer sit in. 🙂
August 4– I love doing office work on the deck- much better than a standard cubicle! Lititz, PA
August 5- Trying to decide where to put this hand carved snowy owl we bought on our Quebec trip. He kind of looks good right in the middle of the room! Lititz, PA
August 6– Recording session for Steve Patterson’s (left) new song at Chad Kinsey’s (right) studio. Lancaster, PA
August 7- Fulginiti Family Band concert minus Ally (who got called in to work last minute) but plus Dave Winter (bottom left) and Connor Stoehr (top right). Tom Herr (top left) Bailey (center) and I were glad for their musical support. Lititz, PA
August 8– Modern Luxe saxophonist Dave Heagerty leads the bride and groom into the reception. Philadelphia, PA
The Elkins Estate is an incredible, guided-age venue. Look at this!
More Elkins Estate! I think this was the original owner’s Music Room.
And this room seemed to be a china & silver storage room.
August 9- Tam is usually not the last one to get out of the pool…New Providence, PA
August 10– More incredible buildings! We took a tour of the Pennsylvania State Capitol with Mom & Dad. Harrisburg, PA
Looking up from the lobby to the rotunda.
State Senate chambers.
State House of Representatives chamber.
August 11– mini golf with Tam & my parents, and “Professor Hacker”. Lancaster, PA
August 12– where else would I be after a recording session (or a gig, or anytime in town..)? Lancaster, PA
August 13– This festive patriotic duo looks very happy (and we were)! But it’s a good thing there’s no pic of me getting up early for the 8:30am start time an hour from my house 😅 Mechanicsburg, PA
August 14– Bravura Brass after our MPTF sponsored concert at Kitchen Kettle Village. Intercourse, PA
Then to a Funktion gig for a community festival in Dauphin, PA.
August 15Fever Pitch wedding! Bailey & Beth played the bridal procession. Baltimore Country Club, Baltimore, MD
And since this month seems to be full of beautiful old buildings…here’s the wedding dinner room….
..and here’s me singing “Thank God I’m A Country Boy” with Fever Pitch while the Baltimore Oriole mascot dances with the couple at the reception. still Baltimore Country Club
August 16– Playing closing worship for the annual Central Manor Church Camp Meeting. I should do a separate post on this place- it’s very interesting and unique! Washington Boro, PA
I was exhausted at this point, but drove 2.5 hours through a steady rain (each way) to a Modern Luxe wedding gig in Warren, NJ
August 17– This is basically what I did all day…….Lititz, PA
August 18– I bought a new toy! Can’t wait to use it! It’s a slap-top cajon 😎 Lititz, PA
August 19Appalachian Brewing Company has great food and beer, plus an interesting collection of old and unusual beer cans. Lititz, PA
August 20– a nice but very “muggy” time with Ally, Alec and Tammy playing Top Golf. Baltimore, MD
Here’s what it was like when we first arrived 😁
August 21– Discovered the Lehigh Valley Zoo– a very nice and unique small zoo that features my favorite exotic animal. Schnecksville, PA
You can get up pretty close to a lot of the animals, if they’re willing like this ostrich was.
August 22– I came back after a run, leaned against a porch pole to stretch, and nearly put my head right on this newly molted cicada! At least, I think that’s what it is… Lititz, PA
August 23- The last minutes of the last concert of the season at Long’s Park. And it was a good one- Hayes Carll. Lancaster, PA
August 24Stubby’s is a controversial place in our family, but I like it, it was a beautiful night, and Tam agreed to go 😁 Lancaster, PA
August 25– Not sure why this horse statue ended up on the mini golf course, but it’s a nice place for photos (Wood aka Len, Gina, Tammy). Mountville, PA
August 26- The location of this little green plant may be an indication that our rain gutters need cleaned😱 Lititz, PA
August 27– My sweaty imprint on the patio after doing a post-run ab workout. The humidity here just sucks lately! Lititz, PA
August 28– Beautiful (and less humid) night for a community building event with DC & Co, although power outages during the first set caused a bunch of scenes like this one. Lancaster, PA
August 29- The garden at Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone NJ….
… where Modern Luxe played a wedding.
August 30– Pool temps at Tam’s parent are at 73 degrees- still nice, but about 4 degrees away from “too cold” 🥶 Probably not too many swims left this season. New Providence, PA
August 31– On the way out the door, Dad put his last few cents into this machine just to “waste 88 cents on the way out the door”. That spin won him $45.50! 🤩 Hollywood Casino, Grantville, PA
