This week I’ve had some downtime to relax a bit and let my mind wander. The best place to do this on my property is the hammock, which lives under the crabapple tree in my backyard, overseeing a collection of native plants that almost always need trimmed.

The relaxing went well, but the “mind wandering” part went a different direction than I had planned.  That’s the thing though- you can’t plan a mind’s wandering; you just have to let it go wherever it wants.

Mine went from wandering to wondering. Not about the great mystery of human existence, but to other, lesser yet still intriguing mysteries like these:

-Is everybody who drives a cyber truck an asshole?

-Why do people litter?

-How did the American electorate become so feebleminded?

-Why do people go out to a concert or movie and then talk through the whole thing? (Editors note: shut the hell up or stay home!)

-How can it be that placing a wooden spoon across the top of a boiling pot of water, keeps the pot from boiling over? (I’m sure there’s a scientific explanation to this one, but it just seems like magic to me.)

Sad to say, I wandered, wondered, fell asleep, woke up, climbed out of the hammock, and went about the rest of my day with no new insights or answers.
