After two weeks worth of very springlike temperatures, the weather cooled back down to normal this weekend just in time for one of my hometown’s most popular events- the Fire & Ice Festival. Even so, with temps in the mid 40’s, many of the sculptures were less than their best by the time my wife and I got down to see them. But that just leaves room for some imagination in trying to figure out what the thing represents.

The fire portion of the weekend involves a chili cook-off, which we did not participate in, but below are pics of some of my favorite ice sculptures. There were dozens, and it seems like more are added each year. By the way, the woman in the first pic is my wife, but I don’t know the two people in the second pic. There was a long line for photos on that ice sled. I didn’t feel like waiting, so I snapped a pic with some random riders and went on my way.

The Fire & Ice event happens in Lititz, PA every President’s weekend, so mark you calendars for next year if you’re into this sort of thing.
