She warned us this would happen, and she was right. I’m not sure why we didn’t listen to her, maybe it was a parent/daughter thing, but not doing so landed us in a foreign country with no cash or working credit cards, and a bill that needed to be paid. Oh yeah- there was also a language barrier. And did I mention it was -5F with a wind chill of -45F?
Ah the fun of family vacations!
Actually, this one was a great time despite the totally avoidable mess we got ourselves into. The full story of this family misadventure is the topic of my post this week at Wise & Shine Magazine. The only thing better than experiencing you own family problems is reading about somebody else’s- so please take a look at the story. All the better if you can do it in a warm place with a pocketful of cash, just to exaggerate the differences between you as reader and us as international idiots.
And if you have any family travel mishaps of your own, by all means share them in the comments. I’d love to feel like I’m not the only one in the world who did something stupid while traveling.
Follow and subscribe to Five O’Clock Shadow for more stories and pieces including the RebEarth series, Old Man Rants and Music. New categories are in the works. Each Friday, I’ll post to a new piece to Wise & Shine so be sure to subscribe there as well.
“The only thing better than experiencing you own family problems is reading about somebody else’s…” Oh, my…you’re right about that…sounds like a doozy of a tale…I’ll head over to take a look!
