This week I almost felt like I was in high school again- so many projects and deadlines without enough time to get everything done. I say “almost” because, contrary to the high school version of me, I actually tried to get everything done on time and with good quality.
Anyway, the fresh, new blog post I had planned on writing didn’t get finished, but I did complete another project that I hope you’ll indulge for a minute (actually 4 minutes, which is about how long it takes to read a blog anyway).
In addition to writing the Five O’Clock Shadow, I’m also a musician; leading several different groups, performing, booking gigs, promoting, freelancing and doing all the usual musician stuff. (www.toddfulginiti.com). Except, I had never written and recorded any original songs that weren’t instrumental (I’m a trumpet player). So during the corona quarantine this year, I decided it was time to try doing that.
Rise Up, Awaken is the result. It’s a song with a message, and I thought having a video paired to it would make both the message and the music more appealing. So I took my iPhone SE and headed to two of my favorite spots- Lancaster,PA (hometown) and Rehoboth Beach, DE and shot some footage. I pieced it together with iMovie. Low-tech, but fun to do.
So, this week’s blog post is musical. It says pretty much the same thing as my written blog may have said anyway. I hope you’ll watch it, listen to it, and share it with friends if you’re so inclined.
Rise Up, Awaken is available for download/donation at www.toddfulginiti.com/store and wherever you like to download music. Proceeds will go to The Sierra Club, The ACLU and Public Health Institute.
Next week, we’ll go back to words and paragraphs.
