This month’s photo journal is going to be a little different. My phone has been slowly falling apart over the past several months, and a few weeks ago, my camera stopped working. The front facing camera is apparently dead forever, but sometimes the back facing camera is ok, which means I can try to snap a few pictures from backward angles. But other times, that camera doesn’t work either and I have to either grab photos from friends or off the internet. And if that doesn’t work …..for those days I decided to draw sketches of the picture I wish I could have taken.
So if you want to see not only what I was up to this month, but also how poor an illustrator I am- then this month’s photo journal awaits!
September 1– I wasn’t able to get a pic but the story of the day was lightning; big strikes and lots of them too! Here’s a photo from the web, supposedly taken that night by somebody in Lancaster County 🤷🏼♂️ Either way- it was wicked! Lititz, PASeptember 2– Major scanning project took a large part of the day. Thank goodness for this easy little scanner app! Lititz, PASeptember 3- “The corn is as high as an elephant’s eye, and it looks like it’s climbing clear up to the sky”. Anybody know what musical/song that’s from? Lititz, PASeptember 4- Another nice sunset over the corn of Lancaster County. near Lititz, PASeptember 5– Dutchyfunk after our mini parade through the Kipona Festival. Harrisburg, PASeptember 6– A beautiful day for lederhosen and Oktoberfest music, back at KiponaFest. Yep- that’s Steve on tuba, doing double duty with both groups. Harrisburg, PASeptember 7– The Cat’s Pajamas Old School Jazz Band always has a great time playing the Masonic Village Labor Day Picnic. Elizabethtown, PAMinutes before trying to convince Tam to get in the pool with me for what would likely be the last swim of the year. She chased after me to push me in from behind. I stopped, she accidentally kicked me hard in the back of the foot, resulting in……..New Providence, PASeptember 8- …you guessed it- a broken toe. Lititz, PASeptember 9– Mom works at the Lancaster Stormers games so Dad, Tam and I made it “Take Your Family To Work” day 😁 Lancaster, PABesides visiting Mom at work, we did also watch the game. September 10– At Parallel Productions with Steve Puffer (left) and Tom Herr (center) working on this year’s Fulginiti Family Band holiday single, which we use to raise money to help our local homeless community. Willow Street, PASeptember 11- I’m so grateful that my good friend Dave Winter was able to fill in last minute on piano, while my guitar player friend missed the gig with a health problem. This is our Old Time Gospel Sing-A-Long By The Fire at Quarryville Presbyterian Retirement Community. Quarryville, PASeptember 12– Fever Pitch played the wedding of our long time family friends. Congratulations Nathan & Abby! Lancaster, PASeptember 13– Casey moved in for the week- and the first NFL Sunday of the season is here! Lititz, PASeptember 14– Casey likes to explore the yard- look how happy she is! 😁 Lititz, PALater, OG Neighbor Game Night got hilarious when Beth’s cards fell into an awkward position on husband Bob. September 15- This was the site of our Fever Pitch gig. An amazing, 1904, Scottish-built, wooden sailing ship, which was turned into a very cool restaurant/event space called Moshulu, where we played a corporate party for the Atlanta-based travel retailer Paradies Lagardere. Philadelphia, PASeptember 16– Chopping wood at Dave’s house. I’m decent with an axe, but that log splitter scares me little bit. 😳 Dover, PASeptember 17- Back at Parallel Productions where Ally laid down a cool percussion track for the Family Band song. Willow Street, PASeptember 18– Funktion played a Homecoming event for Milton Hershey School Alumni Association at Hershey Lodge & Convention Center. Hershey, PASeptember 19– Fever Pitch Gig #1: playing the Tailgate Festival at Kitchen Kettle Village. The place is always packed with tourists but geez it was crowded! Intercourse, PAFever Pitch Gig #2: We were very grateful to have Erin Cruise filling in on vocals with us at Hollywood Casino that night. York, PASeptember 20– This may be the worst drawing I’ve ever done! Games & Grub at our house with Bailey, her future husband Tom, and his parents Mike & Kim. The food was better than it looks here. Lititz, PASeptember 21- We got new lights for “the lounge”, but we aren’t that inspired to try installing them. 😅 Lititz, PASeptember 22– Great day in the studio working on some new stuff for Johnny Mo & When In Roam at The Kaleidoscope.Lancaster, PASeptember 23– In Atlantic City for a gig but the beach was very, very windy due to the incoming Nor’ easter. Atlantic City, NJSeptember 24– Soundcheck/rehearsal for “Aloha From Vegas: The Ultimate Elvis Tribute” featuring Victor Trevino Jr. Tropicana Resort, Atlantic City, New JerseyI’m the second purplish blob on the left, below the Elvis sign 😁September 25– We celebrated Mom’s birthday (a day early), and since she hates having her picture taken, and since I can’t draw (as I’ve already demonstrated), we’ll just go with this little sign. 😅 Lititz, PASeptember 26– Dave looks like he’s checking to see if his keyboard was working- but actually the camera just caught him mid-bounce at our D.C. & Company gig at Marion Court. Lancaster, PASeptember 27– rehearsal with Emmett & Keith for a set at our friend Vernon’s upcoming 80th Birthday party. Mountville, PASeptember 28– Back at Parallel Productions again to add flugelhorn parts to our upcoming Fulginiti Family Band release which (forgive me for repeating myself) is a fund raiser for Lancaster’s homeless community. Willow Street, PASeptember 29– took a walk around the neighborhood and stumbled across a high school soccer game. I admire the speed and agility of these kids! Lititz, PASeptember 30– Each drawing gets worse!! This is Ben, who has become ghost-like, leading the rest of the horns on a mini parade through the audience at our Mission Impossible concert. Lititz, PA

I’m so sorry about your phone. What a pain! But I LOVE your creativity to add drawings to your photo journal. I’m still laughing about the food looking better than what you drew. So funny. And I’m so sorry about Tam’s broken toe. Dang! What a month of productivity. Love that you are laying down the tracks for your holiday project – so good!!

Thanks Wynne! It was amusing to make the drawings, but I was sad to discover that my skills rank just below the average kindergartener! 😂
