By now you may know that I’m into writing brass duets that will work for flexible combinations of brass instruments. These came about out of necessity years ago when I ran into a need for brass music in a smaller ensemble than the traditional quintet. Since then I’ve written over 100 Christmas duets, about a dozen for Halloween (recently released), a few for Thanksgiving, and about 20 for patriotic occasions.
Last year my partner Jill Graybill and I started recording them as demos to accompany their eventual incarnation as sheet music. But I decided to start releasing them for listening too- why not?!
With Veteran’s Day coming up next week, now seems like a good time to release the 3rd and final batch of patriotic duets, a set of 5 military service tunes (plus 2 others) lumped into a collection called Veteran’s Salute. You can hear at the link below, or wherever you stream music.

There’s only one more Holiday Horns release on the horizon. In a few weeks, the second half of the Christmas duets we recorded last year will be made available for listeners (the first batch came out last year). Then, I’m going to really focus my attention on making the sheet music available. I’m hoping others will find them as fun to play as we have.

Absolutely gorgeous and well-timed with Veterans Day upcoming. Thank you so much, to you and Jill. A beautiful listen this afternoon…I felt myself feeling patriotic and sitting up straight. Amazing what meaningful music well played can do. xo! 💝
