The beginning of October seems like a long time ago, and in this case that’s good! This month involved more travel than usual with separate trips to 3 different states, some nice gigs, good vacation/working vacation time, a new music release, and one of the best holidays of the year. And since Facebook sucks- all the pics are posted right here. Cheers!

October 1-I know it’s way early for sledding, but Costco had these on sale and they are the best! I had to stock up before they sold out! Lititz, PA
October 2– Stock photo. I was so busy winning I forgot to take a picture of Dad and I. I’m no big shot gambler, but it was the winningest day in my modest casino history! Grantville, PA
October 3- Found a great new running route šŸƒšŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø Lancaster, PA
October 4– A big day! Played a parade at my college alma mater behind this cool wagon. Millersville University, PA
Then to Philly for a wedding with Funktion. Here’s our view from the 13th floor ballroom at the historic Bellevue Hotel. Philadelphia, PA
October 5– I had planned a 3 day solo “retreat” at Rehoboth Beach, but Ally, Willow and Tammy tagged along for the first day. Cape Henlopen State Park, Rehoboth, DE
The lake at Cape Henlopen State Park is man-made and the water level is controlled. It was drained to consolidate the food sources of migrating birds that spend time on the Delaware coast at this time of year.
My “Solo Beach Retreat” crashers- I’m not mad about it šŸ™‚
October 6– this big guy would not move from his boardwalk spot. Rehoboth Beach, DE
One goal of my solo beach trip was to get a new project organized and off the ground. I chose the backyard beach at The Purple Parrot as my office space. Rehoboth Beach, DE
October 7– Last day at the beach. It was a beautiful sunset and even better moonrise. Rehoboth Beach, DE
Moonrise begins
What a finish!!
October 8– Volunteering at LCTV66, filming a show featuring a high school classmate (black shirt) and a former student who I taught flute to when she was a fourth grader back in 1996!! (gray jacket, mostly obscured). Lancaster, PA
October 9– The March Masters got paid to walk one lap around the convention hall playing Happy Birthday. Afterwards, Tammy and I hit the road towards a Funktion gig in the finger lakes region of New York. Lancaster, PA
October 10– We attended the Genesee Valley Hunt Races, which was super fun, especially if you like horses and/or dogs. Geneseo, NY
It was a traditional styled event, fashions included.
That night Funktion played the Hunt Races gala event while Tam chilled out at the hotel. Geneseo, NY
October 11– Everybody told us to visit the Strong Museum of Play while we were in town for the weekend. They were right- the place is outstanding! Rochester, NY
October 12– Driving home, we stumbled across Iron Kettle Farms. We stopped right away and stayed for a few hours for some old school country fall fun, including this kick-ass goat. Candor, NY
Iron Kettle had a huge pumpkin display. I was so impressed by it, I might do a blog post just on that. You know me- I love holiday decorations!
October 13– Back at LCTV66 helping to film and edit pieces for Lancaster’s upcoming Extra Give. This piece is for an organization I love and sometimes play for- Allegro Orchestra of Lancaster. Lancaster, PA
October 14- Brand new Halloween decoration! You know I love blow molds! Lititz, PA
October 15- New running route through the neighborhood where Tammy’s grandparents used to live. There were houses-I promise šŸ˜… Lancaster, PA
October 16-Jekyll & Hyde at The Fulton Theater was really excellent! Lancaster, PA
October 17– Release day for the Holiday Horns with some brand new Halloween brass duets I arranged. šŸŽƒ All Streaming Platforms, Earth
October 18– Uh-oh! Three trumpet players on the gig when there’s only supposed to be one?!? At least we all like each other 😁 Lancaster, PA
October 19– Halloween in Lititz. Look at the eyes! Lititz, PA
October 20– A sad day we hoped never would come- Shirley aka The Best Neighbor Ever sold her house at auction. Lititz, PA
October 21– Skeleton Massacre! This banjo playing skeleton duo had a decade-plus gig on our front porch each October, but this year they stopped working 😫 It looks like one of the neighborhood kids showed their disappointment by knocking them of the “stage”!😱 Lititz, PA
October 22– Big Day! First, at LCTV66 helping to shoot video shorts for Lancaster non-profits as they gear up for this year’s Extra Give event.
Then off to Quarryville for a Harvest Party with The Cat’s Pajamas Old School Jazz Band. (Check us out wherever you stream music šŸ˜Ž) Quarryville, PA
And then up to Masonic Village for an Oktoberfest with The Happy Wanderers. Elizabethtown, PA
A view from the balcony of the Masonic Lodge- the buildings and grounds are beautiful! Elizabethtown, PA
October 23– it took a little convincing, but we got Tammy to come out of retirement and record a little flute on this year’s Fulginiti Family Band holiday fundraising song. She was super nervous 😁Willow Street, PA
October 24Fever Pitch playing Hollywood Casino Morgantown. Missing from photo: half the band!šŸ˜‚ Morgantown, PA
October 25– Matt, the neighbor kid, is now a full grown man who got married! Congratulations Matthew & Alex! Hamilton, VA
October 26– Hasenpfeffer German Trio playing Cassel Winery’s Oktoberfest. It was good time, and we kept the crowd updated on the score of the Eagles game (as a community service)šŸ˜šŸ¦… Go Birds! Hershey, PA
October 27– The Lititz Halloween Parade is small town, traditional fun šŸŽƒ Lititz, PA
October 28- Great gig with longtime partner Dave Winter, playing for a dinner party of priests in the rectory of the Catholic church I attended growing up. Lancaster, PA
October 29– You’re never too old to carve a pumpkin. It’s Halloween man- come on!! šŸŽƒ Lititz, PA
October 30– Back at The Fulton to see Deceived – a psychological thriller mystery šŸ˜Ž Lancaster, PA
October 31– Trick or Treat night- one of my favorites! Hanging out on the porch, handing out candy, talking to the neighbors and building community. Lititz, PA
We had 153 trick or treaters this year including these 3, who you could see coming all the way down the block šŸ˜ŽšŸŽƒ
I have a feeling our neighbor is about to win the Halloween contest he’s going to!

Now it’s time to take down the pumpkins, overeat the left over trick or treat chocolate, and enjoy some downtime for the next 2 weeks before the holiday season gig schedule kicks in.
