Is anybody into the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators (MBTI)? I’ve always been interested in it, and this week even more so as I try to better understand my behavior in some recent situations.

The MBTI breaks personalities down into 16 categories.  To find their category, subjects must answer a series of questions, which aim to highlight their preferences for introversion versus extroversion, sensing versus intuition, thinking versus feeling, and perceiving versus judging.  The result is a 4 letter characterization that supposedly describes the person very well.

I am an INFJ, which means my dominant traits are introversion, intuition, feeling and judging. According to the analysis information I read, people with my personality type are said to feel like they don’t fit in. I find this hilarious because although some of my type description is an absolute perfect fit for me, there are also parts that are wildly inaccurate. Does that mean that I don’t even fit in with the group of people that has trouble fitting in?!😅

Anyway, these types of personality descriptors are interesting to me.  Their accuracy is very much debated by scientists, but the MBTI is widely used in the world. I personally find them very intriguing and feel like we can learn at least a little bit about ourselves and each other, if we use them cautiously . Same goes with the astrological signs, birth month traits, and the Harry Potter Hogwarts House Sorting quizzes (by the way, I’m a Slytherin when it comes to that)

If you haven’t done any of these things in a while, especially Myers Briggs, I would encourage you to go online and try one just for fun and to report back with your results ( MBTI letters, Hogwarts House, etc…). It will be fun! Plus, we can all learn about each other, which helps build  harmony and understanding in the world (which incidentally, is something my personality type is very into).

I’ll start things off by sharing 5 items from the INFJ description that are actually true for me.  Here we go:

1. The INFJ believes that success doesn’t come from money or status but from seeking fulfillment, helping others, and being a force for good in the world.

2. The INFJ is often a creative, idealistic dreamer, but with the drive and focus to get things done.

3. The INFJ places a very high value on close personal relationships (quality over quantity)

4. The INFJ hates small talk and prefers deep, meaningful conversation.

5. The INFJ is prone to burn out due to not taking breaks from the work they are passionate about.

This is just the tip of the iceberg- plus I left out most of the negative INFJ traits! So- what about you?  Google a Myers-Briggs type mini quiz, see what it tells you about yourself, and let me know if you think it’s true or not.
