I might lose my cool card over this- assuming I even have one; which is a pretty risky bet. But I’m going public with these 3 musical acts/shows. I love them! I don’t get tired of them. Call me uncool if you want- here they are:
The Go Go’s
That’s right- I ‘m a big Go Go’s fan! Maybe it had to do with the timing of their first album, Beaty & The Beat. It was 1981. I had just finished 7th grade. The songs were in my head the whole summer, and even now I associate them with the places we went on our beach trip that season.

Maybe it had to do with the fact that I had a crush on Belinda Carlisle ( I still might…)
Later, I learned that the band started with no real plan. Some of the girls didn’t even know how to play their instruments when the band first got together. They learned on the fly! As they wrote songs! The more I learn about their fascinating story, the bigger fan I become.
Here are 3 of my favorite Go Go’ tracks in no certain order:
Automatic
Vacation
This Town
Kenny G

Hold on! Before all my music friends freak out- let me at least qualify my choice. I love early Kenny G. By early, I mean things up to and including the Duotones album (1986). After that, Kenny started a downhill slide where his music became increasingly less interesting until he basically has become a musical sleeping pill. But man, those first few records were great, and in my opinion Duotones is stellar!
Here are three of my favorite Kenny G tracks in no certain order:
Midnight Motion
Sade
Songbird
Yeah I know- this song got so played out but that was about 40 years ago!
The Sound Of Music
I can’t get with the people who refer to this masterpiece as The Sound of Mucous, or any other derogatory name. I think every (or at least most) aspects of the show are outstanding! Call me a sappy sucker, but I think Rodgers & Hammerstein’s music is basically a greatest hits album all rolled into one show. The plot is at least somewhat historical and touches on all sorts of important themes and statements about society that are still relevant today, even though the show was first seen on stage in 1959 and is set during World War II.

People also complain that this show is too long, but I’m good with it. I could do without a certain few scenes, but mostly I’m into it from beginning to end.
If you’re a hater, give this scene a view and see if you soften up a little: They have goat puppets! 🙂
There you have it- I’ve outed myself as a fan of these things that I know many people are sick of or think are uncool. That’s okay- we all like what we like and the world is a more interesting place because of it.

If these three are uncool … then I must be the poster child for all things uncool. 🤣🤣🤣Loved and still love the Go-Gos. Love the tempo and energy of every one of their songs. I’m grateful to for the Sound of Music … I pooh-poohed musicals until I saw it for the first time. I think we all have things we like that put others into a yawn!!! It’s called life! 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Oh, I’m in Todd. Like you, I remember hearing them for the first time and loving Belinda Carlisle. You can’t listen to the Go Gos and not be in a good mood. I vaguely remember reading about them “learning on the job.” What an on-the-job experience! I’m definitely in. 😎🤣😎🤣

Love this confession, Todd! We listen to the Sound of Music all the time – so many great songs in that soundtrack. Totally cool, in my book!

Haha, hold your head high, Todd. I saw The Sound of Music in the movie theater if that ages me, and I became a fan for life. I know every single word on the album. And the Go-Gos rock.
