Please allow this post to serve in place of the typical romantic, mushy, sappy, predictable Valentines Day posts we see so often.

I’ve spoken with most of my guy friends and relatives, and the vast majority of us agree; it’s fun to irritate our wives/girlfriends on purpose.  We aren’t sure why- it just is.  But as relationships continue and evolve, women seem to become immune to their partner’s nonsense, which is frustrating for the man.  Our only recourse in this situation, is to up our game, which often leads us into actions we otherwise would not take.

Case in point: this ridiculous little tune called “The Carrot Song”.

I would not normally sing in a “2-pack-a-day-for-35-years” smoker voice.  I also wouldn’t normally go to the trouble of making up and recording such a stupid song (even for my Jimmy Schnitzel character).  But desperate times call for desperate measures! I could not just accept my wife becoming immune to my attempts to annoy her for fun.  If that ever happens I guess I’ll have to start expressing my love with candy, flowers, and other boring gestures.

The inspiration for this prank came when I was eating a carrot, and offered my wife one, which she refused. I was offended that she rejected my kindness, and started pretending that carrots are awesome- even more awesome than her.

I’m proud to say that The Carrot Song was a big success. My wife can’t stand to hear it whether I play her the recording or grab my banjo-lele and do it live.

The only downside is that it’s embarrassing for me to be associated with something this stupid.  But I’m sharing it anyway in hopes of inspiring husbands and boyfriends everywhere not to give up the entertaining and inexplicably satisfying game of annoying their partner out of love.
