I was lying in bed the other day, scrolling through pictures on my phone, wondering how September had evaporated so quickly. As I went from one photo to the next, I began to notice how much had taken place during the past thirty days, and how the story of the month was transcribed by the pics on my camera roll. With inspiration from my friend Wynne Leon’s weekly photo blogs (which I always enjoy), I’ve decided to try a new sort of post- a monthly photo journal. And unless you scroll away right now, you’re about to read the first one.

The photo journal rules are: 1) one photo per day, no matter how busy it was; 2) no editing of pics; and 3) no withholding of pics for poor quality, awkwardness, etc… If there’s a pic of that day, it must be used.

Here we go then- September 2024.

September 1- parading the streets of Harrisburg, PA in goofy hats, leading a brigade of huge homemade puppets.
Sept 5-Farmer’s Markets like Hoover’s are one of the reasons I love living in Lancaster County!
Sept 6-It’s fun hearing my daughter Bailey grow as a singer with her band, PopScotch. Fiance Tom sat in on bass.
Sept 7-One of the best gigs ever! Todd Fulginiti Trio dressed as Figrin Dan & The Modal Nodes (of Star Wars/Mos Isley cantina band fame) for a star themed Garden Party in Carlisle, PA.
Sept 8- This gig was a little moe classy 😁 Wedding in Egg Harbor NJ with Modern Lux band.
Sept 9- daughter Ally came home and we hit our favorite hometown cafe. Shoutout to Slate!
Sept 11- expanding the flower beds out front meant breaking up concrete and moving this pile of dirt into place. I’m thankful for the neighbors who helped out with the concrete part.
Sept 13- Another weird gig- this time a Fete En Noir in a historic, Columbia PA cemetery.
Sept 14- friends “Wood” & Gina lost a miniature golf game to my wife and I, so they had to drive us to lunch, pay for it, and pay for the next round, in which they lost again!
Sept 15-The last swim of the season in my in-laws pool was shorter than we wanted due to cloudy, cool weather. πŸ₯Ά
Sept 16- Awesome time at the Eagles home opener with Ally. As you can tell by the faces- the game didn’t end well.
Sept 19- It took us 9 months, but we finally finished recording the 100+ holiday brass duets I arranged. Next up- publishing and selling the sheet music. Big thanks to my longtime brass partner Jill Markley.
Sept 21- wedding at The Logan Hotel in Philadelphia with Modern Lux
Sept 22- A short solo hike detoured into an adjacent corn field. I don’t know what it is about cornfields, but I’ve loved getting lost in them ever since I was a kid.
Sept 26- we love having a professional theater nearby in Lancaster, PA, but I love irritating my wife with this squirrel face even more!
Sept 27- gig with The Maxwell Project in Lancaster, PA
Sept 28- Great music (with Funktion), great cause (Margret Moul Home) and great pizza- this brick oven on wheels is πŸ”₯!
